Married for 27 years and known as one of the world’s wealthiest couple, Bill & Melinda Gates have recently filed for a divorce on Monday. The news shook entire Social-media enthusiasts and news channels after the couple revealed their decision on Twitter.
Bill and Melinda Gates first met in early 1987 when Melinda joined Microsoft as a product manager. Bill and Melinda used to spend a lot of time together and Bill would discuss more with Melinda about Microsoft than anyone else. They both soon started dating in the early ’90s and eventually decided to get married in 1994.
Earlier, Bill and Melinda posted on Twitter that they have put a lot of thought into their decision and the conclusion they came to was divorce. They also said that they’ve done a lot of work together and as a couple, have brought Microsoft up but it’s now time to part ways.
A charity called Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which is owned by the couple was in question by the media after the divorce announcement.
They have clearly stated that they will still work together for the Foundation even after their divorce has been finalized.
So what about the billions of dollars worth of property?
Recently, after they announced the divorce, Bill and Melinda have signed a contract which states how the properties will be split. Though, the original contract is yet to be revealed. Also in the contract, No spousal support was stated as it is said that all properties, businesses, and assets shall be divided among the two equally.
