For example, a cheating spouse may go online and groom themselves prior to going to bed at night. While we would never think of having sex with a person who is hiding behind a computer, chances are they are doing it behind your back every night.
Protecting ourselves and our children from the dangers of Internet predators is another area that will allow us to feel safe. There are actually some programs available that can help you monitor who your children are talking to as well as what websites they are visiting. However, it is up to you as the parent to make sure that the program that is being used is legal and does not harm your children. If you suspect something is wrong, it is important that you report the activity to the proper authorities.
Finally, it is important to realize that the Internet and technology, in general, are constantly growing. When someone thinks about how the Internet has increased in popularity, standing still is not really an option anymore.

While there is a slight chance that the United States government may move to renew the surveillance techniques that it currently has in place, it would have to come from the government itself. Currently, the private sector is the only major supplier of surveillance equipment and technology to the United States government. In fact, when it comes to fighting for our privacy in the courts, it seems that our government relies more on the testimony of corporations rather than the testimony of the common citizen. Therefore, it seems that is US privacy law standing still.
