The first non-western country and the first vaccine from China to get WHO’s approval, the vaccine has already been using in China and has been injected into millions of people.
Instead of WHO – various individual health regulators have approved the Chinese vaccine due to the poor conditions of the country and unable to import massive doses of vaccines such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and more. The effectiveness of the vaccine has long been uncertain due to minor data being released internationally – however WHO on Friday have validated that the effectiveness safety and quality of the Sinopharm Vaccine.
It’s being recommended that the vaccine should be two doses to people aged 18 and over.
Prior to the approval – the vaccine was already being used in countries namely – China, UAE, Hungary, and Pakistan, Beijing Biological Products. The developers of the Sinopharm vaccine have not released any detailed information about the efficiency of the vaccine – but however, have stated that the vaccine is 79.34% effective to prevent the disease. Sinopharm uses a different method to fight the COVID disease – shots such as Sinopharm are called inactivated vaccines, using viral particles to expose the immune system to the COVID virus without risking a disease response. These types of vaccines are made in a traditional way, to say the least.
The decision for the emergency approval of the vaccine was done by the Technical Advisory Group in WHO. After reviewing the manufacturing practices and clinical data, given the vaccine a green light to be used and shipped internationally.
This will be a big help to a lot of countries especially those in Latin America – Asia and Africa that are unable to grasp a lot of the vaccines from the West, it is confirmed that Sinopharm can be stored at 2-8 degrees instead of -80 to -60 for vaccine Pfizer and -25 to -15 for Moderna, making Sinopharm easier to store inside the standard refrigerator, exactly like the AstraZeneca vaccine.
