On May 9th, 2021. An unexpected and horrifying event took place in the Capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul. As Eid-Ul-Fitr was nearing and areas were filled with shoppers all across, an unexpected explosion happened near the Sayed ul Shuhada School in Kabul. It is reported that three bombs were detonated one after another.
There has been an ongoing terror in Afghanistan for a long time now, Afghani residents have said that we’ve forgotten the time since we slept in peace.
The government has blamed the Taliban for the recent event, which the Taliban leader has denied that they don’t have anything to do with the bombing.
There is an ongoing fight that occurs almost daily between the Taliban forces and the Afghan security forces. It is assumed by officials that the Taliban are in search of war against the Afghan security forces. The Taliban are currently suggesting the American army make their way out of Afghanistan, which in a recent conference, President Joe Biden ordered all troops to leave Afghanistan by September 11. Though the Afghani Government does not want this to happen as they are skeptical about the Taliban’s will take control after the American troops have left Afghanistan.
A report revealed that the first blast occurred in a neighborhood nearby which caused panic among the students, as soon as the children started running out of the school, two more car bombs were detonated right in front of the gate which killed almost 90 people and injured around 150 people.
It is said that the school had three shifts, at the time of the blast, the second shift was taking their classes which were mostly young girls. Soon after the blast, nearby hospitals were packed with injured and dead people where families were seen grieving and searching for their loved ones.
It is reported that the blasts were so strong that some bodies cannot be recognized, the blast happened so close to the people that some people cannot even be found.
The Afghani have blamed the government and urged them to provide security for the residents of Afghanistan. A member of the healthcare sector in a nearby hospital has also said in grief that if this is how peace will be attained then kill us all. He also said that they were busy all night collecting the bodies of the dead students and adults and taking them to the graveyard nearby while praying for the injured.
Lists with names of the injured and the dead were seen outside hospitals where Families were crowded to find their loved ones, hopefully alive.
Bodies were taken to nearby morgues and the families were contacted to collect the bodies. Burials have started across Afghanistan.
Since the blast, Security has been tightened across Afghanistan and Kabul. Various schools have been closed. The government has also announced that they do not have enough security forces to protect every school across Afghanistan.
It is still unclear whether it was the Taliban who did the attack or someone else.
