Have you ever asked yourself how to make your faith bigger than your fears? You have, I have. I still ask myself how to make my faith bigger than my fears even though I know that eventually, they will fade away. I also know this because, I have faith and I am not afraid of God, the Bible, or anybody else for that matter. But for some reason, whenever I try to make my faith bigger than my fears, I get routed back down the path to hell.
Does this sound familiar? Have you had an experience where you were afraid of flying and then you look up and saw a great airplane, and you felt completely comfortable with it? Maybe it was the airplane design or the look of it, or maybe it was the thought of taking a flight. And now, years later, you feel the same way about an airplane and you ask yourself, “How to make your faith bigger than your fears?” Here are some ideas:
You cannot just keep telling yourself that you are afraid of flying. This is like building a house on a foundation that is shaky. The foundation cannot be held up by just one or two points. The entire structure is going to crumble if you do not put pressure on it. This is how to make your faith bigger than your fears.
Another point that needs to be made is that fear is very real to us. Sometimes, we are so scared of the unknown, that we can never figure out what the unknown is. Fear is part of life and is a part of all of our endeavors. Therefore, when we are afraid, it is very natural for us to be fearful. And this makes it very hard to think about anything else but being afraid and that makes it very difficult to figure out how to make your faith bigger.
One great idea to help you with this question of “how to make your faith bigger than your fears” is to write down what you are fearful of. This will help you figure out where you are coming from. In other words, this will tell you what part of your life has been threatening you. When you know what aspect of your life has been making you fearful, then you can change it. Oftentimes, people have a fear of failure, being alone, not having enough money, being rejected, etc.
When I asked you to write down these things, I did not want you to feel embarrassed. I wanted you to feel empowered. If you take the time to write them down, you can begin to understand what is making you feel as though you are inadequate, unworthy, inadequate, etc. Once you have figured out what your weaknesses are, you can begin to work on changing them. This is a great step towards “how to make your faith bigger than your fears”.
I am going to let you in on a little secret. I know a few Christians who have turned to the Lord and received His Holy Spirit. What they discovered is that when they began using the Word of God to help them overcome their fears, they no longer felt inadequate. Instead, they began to feel empowered.
I am going to share more of this secret with you. It will definitely help you with “how to make your faith bigger than your fears”. In the meantime, don’t give up!
