Davion Mitchell is the new Culture Driver that the Sacramento Kings have needed! How did he get his start? What makes him a good fit with the Kings?
Well, he was at one time with the Colorado Swing, an AA basketball team. There he learned a lot of skills and was a standout player for the team. He even considered going into sports journalis but didn’t have the right credentials. He knew he wanted to be a basketball player, but needed to go to an accredited college and pursue that dream.
Then he discovered an interesting website called Dynasty Report. This website promoted young basketball players and let people know who they were (with photos and biographical information). It also included information on what type of player he was, and where he should go to school. In short, it was a way to get an inside look into a pro basketball team.
Davion didn’t want to join the team right away but kept at it. Eventually, someone had the bright idea to film the daily activities of the team. That’s when he got the bug. He loved the content and knew he had a calling in the basketball industry.
That’s why he was so mad when he found out that the Kings weren’t going to get an invite to the 2021 NBA finals. He wanted to be a part of this team his whole life. Unfortunately, his contract was heading to expire and he wasn’t sure what would happen. He was ready to retire and move on to bigger and better things, but things changed for the better.
The Kings signed point guard Deron Williams. He was coming off of a breakout season with the Nets. He was named the starter at point guard and has been nothing short of spectacular. He runs the offense and passes the ball crisply and with ease! He’s also displayed great playmaking ability, passing, and shooting skills.
All of this and more has been highlighted by Sportscenter’s Sporting TV. They’ve interviewed several members of the team, including their trainer Sam Presti. Sportscenter’s Ben Moore has even interviewed one of the competitors, Kobe Bryant, on the show as well! Yes! Davion Mitchell has become quite the cultural icon.
Yes! Basketball fans everywhere owe a great debt to Davion Mitchell. He is not just any good basketball player, though. He is the culture of the Kings and of the entire franchise. As the Kings continue to grow and blossom, so will Mitchell’s influence on his teammates and the team itself.
How does he do this? It’s simple really. You see, he’s an individual! His ability to be a leader is built upon his ability to lead. He brings a positive culture that is visible to the rest of the team.
This kind of leadership doesn’t come around very often. Most certainly not from the big fish in the NBA, but you can bet it is out there if you are willing to look for it. There is no doubt that if other players in the league were to model after the example set by Mitchell, they too would flourish. Why shouldn’t they?
So, how do you become a part of that kind of culture? Simple really. You need to find a team in which you can be part of the culture! If your dream is to be a dominant NBA player one day, and you know you can do it one day, you’d be wise to go get in line behind one of those greats, whether it’s Mitchell or someone else, because you’ll be part of their family soon enough.
If you aren’t one of the lucky few to be born into a team where you can be a part of that kind of culture, you have to go find one! Don’t wait too long, though. Once you do, it will seem natural to you, and you’ll wonder how you ever survived without it!
That’s exactly what Mitchell seems to be doing with his business. He understands that it takes more than one person to create a culture. It takes teamwork and camaraderie. Once he found his team, he is using the knowledge of how to set that kind of culture, he learned from his parents, and now he is passing it along to his players. They are all looking up to him, and he thanks them profusely!
